SECRET To GLOWING SKIN

There were days when ghee was the primary ingredient for glowing skin followed by an era of cold cream, but there has been a drastic change in our lifestyle and these simple solutions do not suffice to our growing need for a customized skin care routine. What has been observed is that with our new lifestyle , eating habits and environment pollutants there has been an increase in production of free radicals (an agent that leads to early aging), hence the need for that extra care to make our skin healthy and glowing.

Now that we are clear why we need skin care let us look into how we can take care of our skin

While there are a plethora of options available in the market today, deciding on our skin-care routine can be quite a task. With so many brands wanting our attention, it is quite easy to get swayed away by their ads if we are not clear with what we want i.e. right ingredients for our skin concern.

So, here are a few ingredients that play a vital role in keeping skin intact and ever-glowing.

For Skin-Replenishment – to maintain moisture level on skin

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Does your skin feel dry and lifeless? If yes, then this is a must have ingredient in your skin-care. It is a humectant type of moisturizer. Meaning it has the ability to attract and retain moisture to the skin which prevents the skin from becoming dry and parched. It helps in collagen formation (Collagen is the type of protein found in the human body) and also maintains the elasticity of the skin. It is available as a product by itself in the form of serums or maybe looked for as an ingredient in your moisturizer.

Good For :. All Age-group

How to Use?

Preferably should be added to a daytime skin-care routine. After cleanser and toner, but before moisturizer.

Other key ingredients that you look in a moisturizers are glycerin, aloe-vera, ceramides (forms a protective barrier on skin), fatty acids, glycolic acid (helps in skin exfoliation), lactic acid (acts as mild skin-bleaching agent).

For Skin- Restoration – to fight pigmentation, scars, maintain elasticity

  • Niacinamide: It is a form of Vitamin B3, well-known for its anti-aging properties. It works wonderfully in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, fights acne, improves uneven skin tone, minimizes enlarged pores. Basically used to defer aging of the skin. It is available in the form of serums.

Good For : Age group – 20 & above

How to Use?

It should be used at night after cleanser and toner, but before moisturizer.

  • Retinol: Say goodbye to acne, scars and marks, pigmentation, dead skin and say hello to rejuvenated skin with this miracle ingredient in your skin-care regime. It is a form of Vitamin A that helps in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and induces collagen production. It is available as a product by itself or as an ingredient in your anti-ageing creams.

Good For : Age group – 30 & above

How to Use?

Initially, start using pea sized quantity, three times a week before a moisturizer. Once your skin gets used to it, you can use it regularly.  Using it at day time is a big NO.

Caution : Retinol should be avoided by ones trying to conceive or are already pregnant.

Other key ingredients that delay aging are peptides, green tea extract, coffee berry, grape seed extract, coffee berry, Coenzyme Q10 etc.

Antioxidants – to boost collagen production and protect the skin from UV Rays

  • Vitamin C : It has become a buzzword in recent times in the skin-care industry. Powerful antioxidant that not only helps to fight free radicals caused by toxins produced by the body, but also helps in preventing “CORONA” when consumed orally. L-Ascorbic Acid is the purest form of vitamin C. It helps in brightening up the dull skin, boosts collagen production, improves skin elasticity and regenerates vitamin E.  It is available as a product by itself in the form of serums or as an ingredient in anti-aging creams.

Good For: Age group – 25 & above

How to Use?

Can be used either at day time or night time. Followed by a moisturizer. Avoid combining it with Niacinamide or retinol at the same time

  • Vitamin E : Another powerful ingredient that helps the skin to recover from damages caused by UV rays. It slows down the process that damages cells. Vitamin E when combined with vitamin C helps in combating free radicals and boosts collagen level.   It is usually available in face oils and creams.

Good For : All age-group

All said and done it is important that one should give equal importance to their diet by consuming food rich with antioxidants & minerals and also intake adequate amount of water to keep your skin happy from inside as well.
